Football & Cheerleading News

Youth football and cheerleading is conducted jointly by the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority and the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Georgia. Teams are formed based on ages and school currently attending. Each football division has weight limits for running backs and receivers, all players above the limits are designated as linemen. Each playing division has a minimum playing requirement for each participant.

Cheerleading squads are based on ages and current school attending.

Playing Divisions for football and cheerleading teams:
Junior Pee Wee: 7 & 8 year olds, Pee Wee: 9 & 10 year olds, Mites: 11 & 12 year olds

Season Dates: Sep 8 to Nov 17 (Participants should expect to play during Fall Break Weeks)

Jamboree: Tentatively scheduled for Sep 8

Scholarships/Financial Aid
The financial aid deadline is August 9 for both football and cheerleading.  No financial aid applications will be accepted after this date.

Game Admission: Jamboree, Regular Season and Play-Off Games $1.00 (this does not include Heritage Bowl Games)

Age Divisions/Weight Limits
Junior Pee Wee 7-8
(Running backs/receivers max weight: 80 lbs)

Pee Wee 9-10
(Running backs/receivers max weight: 95 lbs)

Mites 11-12
(Running backs/receivers max weight: 125 lbs)

All players over these weight restrictions are designated as linemen and are not allowed to carry or catch the ball.

Game times: 5:30pm/7:00pm or 6:00pm/7:30pm

Game Locations
Games are played at two locations:
1) Riverview Sports Complex: Behind the levee on E. 2nd Ave. Rome, 30161.
2) Boys and Girls Club of Northwest GA: 100 Gadson St NW, Rome, 30165.

Game Participation Rule
Season games: 8-10 games
Junior Pee Wee: 4 plays
Pee Wee: 4 plays
Mites: 1 play

Uniforms
Uniforms are not included in the registration fee. Parents are responsible for purchasing the child's uniform. A uniform for youth football shall include a certified helmet with face guard, shoulder pads, football pants with pads protecting the hips, butt, thighs, and knees; and a jersey with numerals on the front and back. It is mandatory that all players wear such uniforms. All players must wear mouthpieces.

Awards
All age divisions will receive first and second place individual player awards following post season tournament.
