March Madness hits Rome a month early this year, as Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation plays host to three postseason tournaments in RFPRA recreation basketball.
The tournaments tip off on Friday, Feb. 7 for 8-Under Boys, 10-Under Boys and 10-Under Girls with games at the Gilbreath Center and the Anthony Center gymnasiums.
Friday night’s game in 8U boys features the Hawks versus the Wildcats at Gilbreath at 5:30 p.m. The 10U boy’s game on Friday pits the Blue Devils versus the Wolverines B at Gilbreath at 6:30 p.m.
The 10U girl’s tournament gets a robust start on Friday with three games. The Thunder Cats face the Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m., the Lady Indians take on the Heat at 6:30 p.m. and the Lady Dragons match up with the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. All three contest are at the Thornton Gymnasium.
The single-elimination tournament continues on Monday, Feb. 10 with the semifinals and wraps up with the finals on Tuesday evening, Feb. 11.
Admission for the games is $2 for adults 18 and older, $1 for student under 18, $1 for senior citizens 50 and older and preschoolers are free.
